High Oak Sales Policy
Our goat herd is registered with the Myotonic Goat Registry (MGR). The goats or kids that we sell for breeding or showing can be registered with MGR. Goats will be named with our farm name High Oak Farm as the prefix.
If the goat is not registered yet, registration papers will accompany your goat. You will need to take a photo. If the goat is registered with MGR, then the Registration Certificate and a Transfer Application will be provided. All goats leaving our farm will have a scrapie tag with our farm number to be added to their registration papers.
Deposit and Reservation
A non-refundable, $100 deposit is required to hold a goat. The deposit will be applied to the purchase price. Acceptable forms of payment include PayPal or cash. All goats must be paid in full before leaving our farm. When a deposit has been put down on a goat, it is not refundable unless something happens to the goat and it can not be sold.
Goats need to be picked up within two weeks of deposit unless other arrangements have been made or unless your goat has not been weaned yet.
Goats are sold on a first come, first served basis, and will not be held without a deposit.
Goat Pick Up / Transport
Pick up is preferred so that you can see your goat in person and ask questions. If you live too far away to pick up your goat, you can arrange for transport. Goat transport is arranged and paid for by the buyer. This cost is in addition to the purchase price of the goat.
All animals being picked up must be done so in a safe and humane way. No tying up in the bed of a truck. A large crate or trailer is necessary. If we feel the transportation is not safe and/or sanitary, we reserve the right to refuse to allow the goat(s) to leave.
Herd Health
We test annually for CL, CAE, and Johne’s on all goats over one year old. We are happy to provide a copy of our test results if requested. Additional testing requested will be at the buyer’s expense. We deworm our goats on an 'as needed' basis using FAMACHA scores and fecal egg count tests. All our kids will be disbudded, unless naturally polled. We enjoy our herd of Myotonic goats and strive to support this Heritage breed recognized by the Livestock Conservancy by raising quality breeding stock.
Refunds
Goats purchased from our farm are guaranteed to be in good health at the time of sale and when they leave our farm. We make no health guarantees after the goat(s) leave our property. If any goat develops health issues and a refund is requested, a health inspection by an agreed upon veterinarian is required, with all costs being incurred by the party requesting the refund. A refund will only be given if the veterinarian determines the health issues were genetic or contracted while the goat was on our farm. There are no refunds for other issues.
We reserve the right to refuse to sell to anyone, for any reason.
